In the 2180s-90s, Annie was a Caryatid—an engineer advisor—for Maxence, the Arkhitekton of Dallas. She was friends with him and the other advisors, including Alex.

In her preteens, the tragic incident preceding "A Puppet of Idealistic Will" occurred. Annie and the rest of Maxence's advisors—except Alex—were killed. Renovatio covered this up by uploading AI-generated videos of her and forcing Maxence to act like she was still alive.
