The Official Bio
I grew up with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) in Texas. I graduated high school during the start of COVID. Then I graduated Reed College amidst wildfires and returned to the hurricanes of Houston. Now, I'm publishing stories about a future beyond the world’s current political climate. Delving into a character's identity while society doesn't wait for the character to explore their emotions is my favorite form of therapy.

Identity Related

What to Expect In My Writing
About The In Story Universe

All my stories take place in the same universe.
As a result, each story often contains references to other stories. It's not necessary to read the referenced stories to understand the work they're referenced in. Every story or series is written to stand on its own.
About Dark Subjects

I cover some dark subject matter, so I attempt to clarify as much of that as possible in content warnings.
Writing is a way for me to explore my fears, grief, and anxiety. Sometimes that means there are potentially triggering events referenced or described in my stories. These instances aren't included for shock value, but representation of characters working through incredibly difficult times as a way of helping readers heal from their own experiences.
About Religion

The timeline of my stories stretches across thousands of years, so current religions will fade out of practice.
None of my stories claim that practicing religious beliefs is wrong; a few of my stories particularly celebrate how faith can improve lives. But my stories do aim to point out a pattern: all religions which faded were once believed in.
About the Lack of Sex

I don't plan to include on-page sex in any of my stories.
Being asexual, I have no interest in writing or reading about sex. Some of the characters have sex, but rather than it being described, it'll be implied, mentioned, or discussed. The young characters tend to be fairly educated about sex.
About Identities

All my stories have different types of people.
That includes (but isn't limited to) POC, LGBT+, disabled, neurodivergent, and mentally ill characters. It also includes characters that have different nationalities, ethnicities, religions, body types, and financial backgrounds. As someone with DID who grew up with abysmal representation of my condition, I aim to depict people with respect. I want to show that diversity is important. It's not just the rich, cishet, not disabled, neurotypical, anti-therapy, American, Christian, thin, white guy who saves the day. (In fact, I doubt I've ever written such a silly character.)
Why Bother Clarifying?

I say all this because I've seen too many DNFs or 1-star reviews on indie author books because the reader didn't like how the book handled one of the previous points.
Reviews are exceedingly important for indie books to find their audience. Hopefully, this list of potential contention points will help you gauge whether you'll enjoy my stories. If my writing isn't for you, no worries! I appreciate you reading this section.
