Analisa Patel
She/her
In the 2220s, Analisa grew up in New York City, NE-Territory with her parents and twin brother, Lian. Her upbringing varied between competing with Lian in schoolwork, winning medals and trophies for gymnastics, and watching game shows. In her preteens, she spends a lot of time with Cai, her best friend and eventual girlfriend.
In "When Truth Cowers," Analisa applies for game shows to raise money for her father's rare cancer treatment. Lian and Cai join her in applying for game shows. When the three of them are cast on the broadcast game show Truth or Dare, they befriend two players—Daraja and Eric—during the game. Although the round of Truth or Dare begins as dramatically as Analisa expected, the players soon find themselves being killed one by one. As it is technically legal and the producers find a live murder mystery compelling, the players are forced to stay in the game until the end.

Appearance
Analisa was born a human. She was a second-generation Brown girl. Her Indian Amalrican family alternated between using English and Hindi at home. Her Indian accent was less noticeable in comparison to Lian's. As she was born with phocomelia, she utilized a prosthetic right arm and left leg. (To be clear, most cases of phocomelia affect both arms or both legs or one limb or all the limbs.) She also used a walking stick to help her balance and to minimize her pain while walking long distances.
At the beginning of "When Truth Cowers," Analisa was eighteen years old. She was 5'4" and plus-size. She had wavy brown hair that was dyed soft pink past her ears. She often pulled back her hair in a half up half down style. She wasn't afraid to go heavy on the accessories she wore, especially in her hair. Her eyes were naturally dark brown, but she would sometimes change her contact lenses to add an unnatural color. She had a dark red carnation tattoo on her left shoulder, matching the one on Cai's right shoulder. She had a gold leaf stud promise earring in her right ear that matches Cai's. She tended to wear dark clothing matching the fashion of the time, but she would also wear pink and red as accent colors.
Personality, Behavior, Et Cetera
Although Analisa's voice projected and she was sociable when she needed to be, she prefered being around only a few people at a time. Her brother could handle being the social butterfly all on his own. She acted like a motherly friend who anticipated the needs of others before they could say anything.
Her favorite color was pink. Her music choices tended to be from Bollywood movies or Broadway musicals. Her scholarly interest was strongest in physics. She adored clams since they had fewer limbs than she did and they got by just fine. She knew how to shoot every type of firearm her father could hand her.
She really hated ableism. Really, how did that still exist in her time period? At least she could be comfortably out as an asexual lesbian.
Relationships
At the beginning of "When Truth Cowers," Analisa had a strong connection with her parents. She was a dutiful daughter, and they rewarded that with their hard-earned respect. Even though she would play-fight with Lian often, she was the only one who got to make fun of him.
Cai was Analisa's best friend and girlfriend. During "When Truth Cowers," Analisa became friends with Daraja and Eric. She was pretty sure that Eric would be her brother-in-law one day.
Since she was young, Analisa idolized Comedy and Tragedy, the hosts and referees for the game show Truth or Dare.
Trivia
-
Analisa's birthday was July 3, 2223
-
Years and years ago, I originally wrote Analisa to be best friends (but not girlfriends) with Cai because I thought I wasn't allowed to write characters that weren't straight. I'm so glad I grew out of that
-
Analisa's name was originally Aria, but I wanted the letters to contrast more with Cai's name
-
Some of Analisa's personality was inspired by one of my friends
