In the 2220s, Lian grew up in New York City with his parents and twin sister, Analisa. His upbringing primarily focused on becoming an encyclopedia of a student (except for his weakness in physics, which Analisa often rubs in his face), and learning to sew his own outfits. He was a popular kid who attended the occasional party, but he didn't have any close friends. He was amicable with Cai, Analisa's girlfriend.
As shown in the events of "When Truth Cowers," Lian didn't know much about the game shows, but he joined in on Analisa's idea to apply for them to raise money for his father's rare cancer treatment. Cai joined them in applying for game shows. When the three of them were cast on the game show Truth or Dare, they befriended Daraja during the game. After kissing Eric for a dare, Lian quickly developed a crush.
Although the round of Truth or Dare began as dramatically as usual, the players soon find themselves being killed one by one. As it was technically legal and the producers found a live murder mystery compelling, the players were forced to stay in the game until the end.

Appearance
Lian was born a human. He was a second-generation Brown guy. His Indian family alternated between using English and Hindi at home. His Indian accent was more noticeable in comparison to Analisa's.
As of the beginning of "When Truth Cowers," Lian was eighteen years old. He was 5'5" and skinny. He had short, wavy brown hair. He wore oval glasses. His eyes were naturally dark brown, but he often set his contact lenses to make his irises look neon green.
Personality, Behavior, Et Cetera
Although Lian was intimidated in front of a crowd, he was great at interacting with people. He could find anything to talk about with anyone. He also found the light in dark moments. He didn't like feeling uncomfortable and would do whatever he could to avoid the feeling without making it obvious to others.
He claimed that he wore oval glasses for style, but they were also a backup to his contact lenses due to how the vision correction in his contact lenses sometimes failed. He didn't tell his parents because he didn't want them to spend the money when he could live with the glasses.
Lian had ADHD. He was bisexual.
His favorite color was green. He was a hopeless romantic who loved romance movies, comedies, and the Bollywood movies he grew up on. His scholarly interest was strongest in chemistry. Although he knew how to shoot firearms due to his father's lessons, he preferred to leave the shooting to Analisa.
Relationships
At the beginning of "When Truth Cowers," Lian had a strong connection with his parents. He aimed to be the model student they dreamed of, and they rewarded that with their attention. Even though Analisa found reasons to bicker with him often, he loved her and would stand up for her any day.
Lian was somewhat friends with Cai through Analisa. During "When Truth Cowers," that friendship strengthened. He also befriended Daraja. His mortifying crush on Eric paid off, as they started dating.
