Jared Farley
He/him
In the 2210s, Jared grew up in suburban Pennsylvania with his parents. Visiting the family's tree farm cultivated his interest in botany from a young age. In his young adult years, his parents died in a car accident. Since he wasn't connected to his extended family, he lived by himself while scrounging up money to finish college from scholarships and waiting tables. When he graduated with his Botany degree, he was fortunate to find a research opportunity that led to the start of his career.
While celebrating the publication of a research paper with colleagues, he went to an upscale restaurant in New York City. There, he met the waitress and food enthusiast Joane. Her flirty banter and beautiful laugh immediately mesmerized him. After a few months of dating, he moved into an apartment with her in New York City.
In "When Truth Cowers," Jared and Joane had been together for over a year. They applied for game shows to raise money for Jared's research idea—and their potential wedding. Jared hadn't bought the wedding ring yet, but he already knew that he wanted Joane's favorite flowers incorporated into it. When Jared and Joane were cast on the broadcast game show Truth or Dare, they enjoyed the opportunity as one of the two couples on the show. Although the round of Truth or Dare began as dramatically as usual, the players soon found themselves being killed one by one. As it was technically legal and the producers found a live murder mystery compelling, the players were forced to stay in the game until the end.

Appearance
Jared was born a human. He was a Brown man with dark brown eyes. His most recent ancestry was primarily Irish and Indian. As of "When Truth Cowers," he was lean and 5'5". He dyed his wavy, dark brown hair so that it gleamed a reddish purple in sunlight. He maintained his beard so that it barely went past his chin.
Personality, Behavior, Et Cetera
Jared was an awkward nerd who enjoyed elaborating about plants longer than what most people were typically interested in. He was in awe of how Joane saw anything special in him.
He found the most comfort from being among nature. He particularly liked walking/hiking through forests. Although he lived in the city, he coped by covering the walls of the apartment in plants—especially the purple flowers Joane liked.
Relationships
Growing up, Jared didn't see eye to eye with his parents. Although they wanted Jared to aspire for a more lucrative career, they supported him financially at the start of college. When his parents died, Jared regretted not making better amends with them. He shut out memories of that time as best as he could, trying not to deal with his grief.
Jared's work connections were fulfilling since he was able to passionately talk with other researchers who understood him. Although Joane didn't understand his interests as well as his coworkers, Jared loved that she tried to listen. He even inspired her to learn about her favorite plants. They also bonded over their experience waiting tables and their dedication in working for what they want. He adored how their relationship was built with unwavering support.
In "When Truth Cowers," the two weren't sure who they could trust in Truth or Dare, so they relied on each other.
