Inna Diduch
She/they (flip them often)
Inna was a refugee due to a storm, so she grew up in a few different places. After some time, Inna and their mother settled in Simferopol. When they were a child, the artificial intelligence known as the Mainframe sent microscopic technology to fuse with Inna's body.
In the late 2190s, Inna was recruited by the Antistasi to join the Sivylla—a group of other teenagers who the Mainframe fused with technology. During this time, the group discovered side effects of the technology: enhanced abilities. Inna discovered that her capability was related to her ability to swim. She was not only a great swimmer, but she could hold her breath for long periods of time, she tolerated pressure well, and she acclimated to the cold temperatures of the deep portions of the ocean. After the Mainframe events, they returned to Simferopol.
At the beginning of "Death's Mending Touch," Inna traveled and researched underwater for conservation groups. When the deceased Bian appeared around the world, the Antistasi called Inna and the other Sivylla together to address this. After reuniting with Bian, the group decided to work with the Antistasi part-time under a new team name: the Enforcers.

Appearance
Inna was born a human. They were a Brown demigirl with light brown skin. Her recent ancestry was primarily Ukrainian and Indian. Her eyes were dark brown. Since they were born mostly deaf, they wore cochlear implants, but they didn't hear much with them. They wore wristbands to help translate their words and listen for speech.
In "Death's Mending Touch," she was overweight and kept her hair buzzed short. Her hair color changed frequently, but her hair was dyed like a rainbow at the beginning of the book. They loved sea-themed piercings and their fish tattoos on their arms. She hated wearing makeup. Her wardrobe tended to look like swimsuits—both to always be prepared for the water and to minimize the amount of heat her clothing built up.
Personality, Behavior, Et Cetera
Inna acted like a sardonic older sibling to almost everyone—even those who were older than her. They felt most at home in the water, so being outside of it was uncomfortable.
They were Deaf and sign in Ukrainian Sign Language. Their wristbands flatly vocalized their signed words to whatever language was most prominent in the area they were in. The wristbands also listened for speech and translated words spoken nearby into text in Inna's contact lenses.
She admired all sea creatures, but particularly the large whales and sharks. She swam, surfed, and danced in her free time. She almost always had to do something with her hands, which could get annoying when she had to frequently turn on and off her wristbands to alternate between conversation and messing with a fidget cube. They were autistic.
Relationships
Inna's lifeline growing up was her mother. Inna didn't know her father and she was an only child. When the storm wiped out their hometown, Inna and her mother learned to not become attached to any particular place, set of objects, or even people. Inna's mother, also Deaf, taught Inna Ukrainian Sign Language and aspects of Deaf culture.
When Inna was recruited for the Sivylla group in their teenage years, they were hesitant to participate in the Sivylla training, but appreciated being a part of an understanding group that faced particular difficulties and required particular accommodations. They connected with Tera quite a bit and looked out for her like a younger sister; their shared experiences involving their autistic traits and childhood trauma particularly solidified their bond. Inna also connected with Quito, who communicated with animals. Inna loved that Quito could tell her what the sea creatures were saying.
As of "Death's Mending Touch," Inna still felt connected to Tera and Quito in particular. Since Inna grew up with people leaving their life all the time, they didn't want to develop a crush on Quito. But it didn't help that he was charming. He literally learned Ukrainian Sign Language and how to scuba dive so he could scuba dive with Inna and tell her what the sea creatures they met were saying.
