Ever Wright

Xe/xem

In the 2170s, Ever grew up with many siblings in rural New York. After years of working on the family farm, xe graduated from the COfficials academy and joined the NE-Territory police force. During this time, xe met and fell in love with xir wife. The two had four children. In xir early 60s, xe retired from the COfficials to spend more time with xir family. Xe enjoyed spending time with xir seven grandchildren. Ever and xir wife moved to the farm that one of their children tended with their spouse and kids. Every two years, Ever's extended family had a reunion.

Ever applied to game shows every so often, hoping to have a bit of playful fun and to raise winnings to give xir family. In "When Truth Cowers," Ever was cast on the game show Truth or Dare. Xe was the oldest of the players. Despite how most of the players didn't get along with Solana, xe had patience and compassion for her—especially since her anger was rooted in being mistreated by the police. Xe also had respect for Flutura. Although the round of Truth or Dare began as dramatically as usual, the players soon found themselves being killed one by one. As it was technically legal and the producers found a live murder mystery compelling, the players were forced to stay in the game until the end.

Appearance

Ever was born a human. Xe was a Black person with dark brown skin. Xir recent ancestry was primarily Amalrican and Ghanaian. At the beginning of "When Truth Cowers," xe was thin and had short, graying, dark, curly hair. Xe wore glasses with mostly round lenses and couldn't wear contact lenses. Xe preferred wearing layers of neutral colors. From xir years on the police force, xe sustained plenty of injuries. The most noticeable reminders of xir injuries were the bullet scar on xir right forearm and xir amputated right leg. Xe preferred using an electronic wheelchair to get around instead of a walker.

Personality, Behavior, Et Cetera

Although Ever's expressions tended to look stern, xe was compassionate and understanding—even to strangers. Xe valued physical/emotional effort, empathy, and family.

Xe had to be patient with xir body. After several years of hard labor and physical training, xir body almost always ached. Xir arthritis made navigating a non-electric wheelchair more difficult than it was worth; the electric wheelchair was worth the price.

Xe was nonbinary and bisexual. Xe chose the name Ever to comically pair with Wright.

Relationships

At the beginning of "When Truth Cowers," Ever often spent time with xir family. Xe loved xir wife dearly. Getting with xir extended family was always a time for visiting and banter. Xe would occasionally visit with COfficials xe worked with as well.

Trivia

  • I wrote Ever to be the only character sympathetic to Solana before I realized how nuanced that would be (since xe was a retired police officer and Solana's anger was primarily driven by the police)
